Pete Elliot To Be Honored At Summer Convention

Maryland elected officials, city and town leaders, and organizations supporting Maryland’s nearly 160 municipalities will gather in Ocean City on June 23-26 for MML’s 2013 summer convention- with a special recognition planned for a longtime Cumberland official. The annual meeting provides a platform for city and town officials to gain background and insights on major issues facing the state and its municipalities, learn about best practices for local government operations, and interact with counterparts from all around the state. The Lifetime Achievement Award this year will be presented to former Cumberland Councilman and Past MML President Floyd “Pete” Elliott.  Elliot served many years as a council member and was instrumental in advancing many city projects- especially those in the north end area. Elliot opted not to seek another term two years ago, stepping down primarily for health reasons. In a recent interview with WCBC he said his health is improving…
