Planning Continues For New Animal Shelter

Plans are continuing for a new state of the art animal shelter for Allegany County- however it remains unclear as to when or if that project can become a reality. Stoiber and Associates architecture met in late February with representatives of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation to discuss plans for a facility for adopting animals. Following meeting with the current shelter is located on a 3 1/2-acre site on Furnace Street. A new facility could be built there, or somewhere else in the county if a more suitable location became available through donated land- although efforts to find alternate locations have not panned out to date. The exact price tag of the new animal shelter is not yet known but the project will be funded by private donations. Shelter Director Karl Brubaker…
