Police make assault, theft arrests

ASSAULT

On Thursday November 12, 2015, at 12:44 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Waverly Terrace for a disturbance.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Stephen Rumsley got into an argument with the victim which led to Rumsley dragging him down a flight of steps.  Visible injuries were observed to the victim and as a result, Rumsley was placed under arrest.  Rumsley was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.   He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing and was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGE:  Assault 2nd Degree.

 

THEFT

On Thursday November 12, 2015, at 3:12 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a business on Park Street for a reported Theft.  Contact was made with store personnel who advised that Christopher Moore, age 18 of Cumberland, was observed taking store owned items and concealing them in his clothing.  Moore was criminally cited and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.

CHARGE:  Theft less than $100.00 dollars.
