Teachers Union Does Not Take Pay Hike

In recognition of the fiscal crisis facing the Allegany County Board of Education- the Teachers Association for a second consecutive year chose not to take a previously negotiated 1% pay hike. The current three year contract expires June of 2013 and talks on a new deal should begin in the near future. Given the uncertainty of the economy- and the difficulty in projecting what the fiscal picture will look like three or four years down the road, School Board member Jeff Metz says that negotiating a series of one year deals may be the most reasonable course to pursue…

    “A DONE DEAL”–PREVIOUSLY NEGOTIATED IN GOOD FAITH–MAYBE WE SHOULD GET OUR ONE PERCENT BY DROPPING OUR ACTA DUES!
