Three Bids Being Considered for Rocky Gap

September 27th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

Almost three years since Maryland voters approved legalizing slot machines; and after two failed efforts to locate a qualified bidder- the state’s slots commission now has three proposal to review for a Rocky Gap slots parlor. State lawmakers approved a bill this year to attract bidders to the Rocky Gap site which has not received any acceptable applications for the state's smallest slots site allowing just 1,500 machines. Lawmakers offered applicants a greater share of the revenue from slot machines, and also waived a $3-million license fee for anyone seeking to operate 500 slot machines or less. State Senator George  Edwards said that under the legislation approved this year, the winning bidder would have to agree to buy the entire resort.
