Winning Bid For Slots License Could Be Announced Anytime

The winning bid for a slots license at Rocky Gap could be announced anytime between now and Christmas. Two companies are in the running- Evitts Resort, LLC, and Landow Partners, a real estate company owned by former state Democratic Party Chairman Nathan Landow. Evitts is a cooperative effort between two companies — Lakes Entertainment of Minnesota, which already operates casinos, and Paragon Project Resources of Irving, Texas. Both made public presentations last month to the Maryland Video Lottery Facilities Commission. While some of those close to the situation believe that Evitts has the edge- no indications of any kind regarding either firm being the front runner has come from the commission. Commission Chair Donald Fry tells WCBC News that he expects a decision within a few weeks, pending completion of an independent background check on each company…
