The first, third, and fifth grade students in the Chinese Partial Immersion program at West Side Elementary School participated in the Chinese Bridge competition for primary school students on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the University of Maryland at College Park.
The third grade students were successful in earning first place; the fifth grade students tied for second place; and the first grade students tied for third place. Each group competing had a student perform a speech in Chinese followed by a performance by their entire group.
According to West Side's Interim Principal, Dr. Caren Kurtz, "The students and teachers worked very hard on their speeches and performances and they represented West Side and Allegany County well."
