Beginning in late January 2018, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police have responded to numerous reports of residential burglaries on, or near, Rt. 220 South/McMullen Highway, stretching from Bowling Green to the Rawlings area.

Among the items reported stolen were cash, prescription medications, jewelry, electronics, including televisions, and in one case, a handgun. Law enforcement began receiving tips about a possible suspect. Together with surveillance video, the suspect was identified.

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was contacted and requested to assist in the investigation. A search warrant was obtained, and shortly after midnight Sunday evening, 05/20/2018, the warrant was executed at a private residence on Walter Drive in Glen Oaks.

Several items of evidence were recovered at that time. As a result, C3I Investigators arrested and charged 41 year old Robert Michael Bridges with Breaking and Entering and Theft in connection with one of the burglaries. Bridges was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance, and after bond review by a District Court Judge, is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center without bond. The investigation is continuing by C3I. Additional charges are pending.
