Assault in Corriganville Area

On 1/13/15, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Maryland State Police responded to the Corriganville area for a reported assault. According to the victim, he was a passenger in a vehicle along with two (2) black males travelling from Cumberland towards Corriganville when the operator pulled to the shoulder and both black male subjects produced handguns and demanded money. The victim reported that he began texting a family member who alerted the Cumberland Police.

After initial investigation was completed by the Cumberland Police aided members of the crisis negotiation team, it was determined that the assault occurred outside the City limits and that the victim had escaped and was hiding in the woods, Deputies and Troopers responded, located him and transported him to the Sheriff’s Office. While there, aided by a Detective from the C3I Unit, the victim was interviewed and ultimately decided to not cooperate with the investigation. There are no further leads at this time.
