Allegany County Public Schools issued the following statement today, following an incident that occurred in Cumberland:
Today, Wednesday, January 10, 2018, a student brought a BB gun to South Penn Elementary School.
The classroom teacher immediately informed administrators, who in turn, confiscated the BB gun and investigated the incident in cooperation with the Cumberland City Police Department's SRO.
There was no disruption to the instructional day, and students and staff were not in any danger. A letter was sent home to South Penn parents this afternoon outlining the incident.
