Board of Elections approves consolidation proposal

August 6th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

At its August 3 board meeting, the Allegany County Board of Elections approved a proposal to consolidate precincts in Districts 1, 2, 3, 7-1, 7-2, 9, 10, 16, 21, and 31. If the plan receives approval from the state board of elections, the number of voting precincts in Allegany County for the November election will be reduced from 37 to 20.  The decision was made in light of the 50% shortfall in projected election judges. The plan being considered:  The Orleans Fire Dept and Baltimore Pike district will consolidate and vote at the Flintstone Fire Dept. The Oldtown Fire Dept district will now have voting at the Department of Emergency Services. Living Stone/South Penn/Emmual Betheny and Salvation Army will now vote at Fort Hill. Bowmans Addition will vote at Braddock Middle School. Emmanual Episocal/West Side Elementary/Allegany High School will now vote at the Allegany Multi Purpose building. Cresaptown Elementary/Danville Community Church will vote at Bel Air Elementary. Barton Council Chamber voters will now vote at Westmar Middle. And Parkside/Christ Lutheran will vote at the Lavale Fire Department.
