Citizens Wishing For Specific Issues To Be Addressed

Although the 2013 session of the Maryland General Assembly doesn’t begin until January, it’s usually about this time that citizens or groups wishing to see specific legislation introduced or issues addressed begin contacting their state representatives. Often time’s specific causes are brought to the attention of lawmakers via petitions, form letters or balk emails. While a large number of signatures on a petition, or hundreds of the same letter signed by individuals are a popular approach to garner attention- Delegate Kevin Kelly says it’s probably not the most effective way to get his attention. The five term democrat who represents Allegany County told local business leaders that personalized; individual letters are the best way to solicit some action…
