The Cumberland Times News reports Mayor Brian Grim said city staff and representatives from CSX Transportation are scheduled to meet Friday to discuss the future of three bridges currently closed on the West Side. A CSX train containing double stack cars was being repositioned at the Cumberland rail yard on June 22 when it struck the Fayette and Washington street bridges. The Washington Street bridge, along with a rail bridge at Cumberland Street, were already closed due to their poor conditions. The June 22 strike forced the closing of the Fayette Street bridge, resulting in all three of the West Side's bridges being closed, an inconvenience to residents who live in the area.
