March 8th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

On Saturday, Cumberland Police responded to Pershing Street for a check on well being. When officers arrived they located Joseph Wood, age 41 of Cumberland, Maryland, lying in the grass. While officers were checking on him, he began creating a disturbance. Officers tried to ascertain if there was a problem, but Wood continued to create a scene. Officers requested Wood stop creating a scene while they checked his status through the Emergency Operation Center. Wood refused to comply and continued yelling and disturbing the public in the area. Wood was then placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Once under arrest, officers learned that Wood had two Warrants for his arrest. One Warrant was through Allegany County District Court charging Wood with assault second degree, malicious destruction of property under $1000, and theft less than $100. The second Arrest Warrant was also through the Allegany County District Court charging Wood with failing to appear on August 12, 2019.

Wood was issued a Criminal Citation for Disorderly Conduct and served with both Arrest Warrants. He was later taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await his Initial Appearance in District Court.
