City Man Held After Hit & Run

On Saturday, Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Shawn Stephen Hamlette for assault, disorderly conduct, and numerous traffic offenses.

The warrant was issued by District Court in reference to an incident that occurred  on August 23rd, 2020 when Hamette is alleged to have struck the complainant’s vehicle intentionally and fled the scene.

He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a $7,500 bond.

 

Shawn Stephen Hamlette, age; 22, Cumberland, Maryland.

    Take their license for 2 years! I was hit 4 times on Fayette Street. Not once was able to find that person who hit me. Police said turn it in to your insurance. Which drove my costs up! Anyone who hit and runs, should get a severe punishment. To cost them more then a slap on the wrist! Make them pay dearly for being an idiot

    I ageee..i had same situation in Frostburg and cops did nothing. Didn’t even run a tag to check and he had no insurance so I was out alot of money and my insurance premium went up due to some asshole! How about making stiffer punishment for being irresponsible.
