City Police Makes Arrests on Theft; Assault

The following is the Cumberland City Police report for Thursday, April 14, 2016:

 

 

Theft Arrests:

On Thursday, April 14, 2016 Officers of the Cumberland Police Department were called to a business in the 500 block of Virginia Avenue regarding a shoplifting complaint.  Upon their arrival Officers contacted and employee of the business.  The employee stated they observed a female customer remove price tags from several pieces of merchandise and place these items inside her purse.  The female customer, Laura Lantz, then allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for these items.  Lantz was stopped and admitted to the theft.  Lantz was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  Lantz was issued a criminal citation for the offense and released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.

Arrested:

Laura Lee Lantz, age: 41, of Cumberland, MD

Charges: Theft less than $100.00

 

 

Assault Arrest:

On Thursday April 14, 2016 at approximately 3:12 pm Cumberland Police Officers responded to Springdale Street for a report of an assault.  Upon their arrival they located both female parties involved in the assault.  They first contacted Shikeyla Henderson, who stated she and another female had been involved in an assault over a male.  Henderson stated she was fine and did not wish to press charges.  Henderson stated if she located the second female she would assault her again.  Henderson began to have an unrelated health issued and the Cumberland Fire Department Ambulance responded to the scene.   The second female subject involved in the assault was still on the scene and Officers spoke to her as well.   Henderson was approaching the Ambulance and observed the second female.  Officers advised Henderson to stay away from the other female and to go to the Ambulance.  Henderson then lunged toward the second female and assaulted her by striking her in the face.  Henderson was immediately advised she was under arrest.  She pulled away from Officers attempting to make the arrest and continued to lunge toward the other female.  Officers were then able to place her under arrest.  She was transported to the Cumberland Police Department where she was charged and processed.  She was transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a hearing.  She was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on $4,000 bond.

Charges: Second Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order and Resisting Arrest
