While a common answer to what is needed for Allegany County is always “more job”- County Commissioner Bill Valentine has a different view. While the two term commissioner believes there are ample jobs available in the region- it’s a job-ready work force that is lacking in the area. He said at a recent job fair, 27 of 53 participants left after they were told a drug test would be part of the application process. Of the 26 that remained, 17 came up with a dirty urinalysis, leaving only 9 qualified applicants. While drug tests are a problem, there is also a general lack of citizens with the necessary skills needed for many of the jobs being offered…
