Commissioners Have No Plans to Alter Tax Formula

After receiving a petition from the for profits, and hearing from a large crowd of non-profits on the issue- it appears as though the Allegany County Commissioners have no plans to change the current taxing formula in place for tip jar revenues. Currently non profits are taxed at just ten percent, while for profits are hit with a 40% tax for paper games. The for profits requested a change in order to level the playing field. Although no official vote or decision has been taken, county commission President Mike McKay told WCBC News last month that he would prefer leaving the current set-up in place. County Administrator David Eberly said he expects a formal recommendation to be made to the commissioners in the near future, but he declined to say what that recommendation would be…
