Committee Coming Up With Compromise On State Budget And Tax Increase

With less than a week to go in the 2012 Maryland General Assembly session, lawmakers await  members of a House-Senate conference committee to come up with a compromise on the state budget, as well as on a bill to increase income taxes. The House and Senate have each passed different versions of the budget and tax bill. Democratic Delegate John Bohanan, who is a member of the conference committee, told WBAL that he thinks lawmakers will work out differences on spending quickly, and it will take longer to reach a compromise on a tax bill. The Senate's income tax increase is larger than the House version.  The Senate bill increases income tax rates above $3,000, while the House bill increases rates above $100,000…
