County Announces “Roadmap to Reopening”

May 21st, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Government, in concert with Allegany County Tourism has announced the release of the County’s “Roadmap to Reopening.” The Roadmap outlines best practices for the community’s businesses & tourism industry as the county prepares to jump start the  economy. The Roadmap is available on the County’s resource page dedicated to the community’s COVID-19 response. Commission President Jake Shade tells WCBC News that the guide can serve as a tool for businesses who are ready to begin serving the public.

The Roadmap is similar to documents utilized by neighboring Garrett and Washington Counties, and was released in response to Governor Larry Hogan’s initiation of Phase 1 of the Maryland Strong plan. The document outlines various recommended practices for retail, restaurants and bars, and includes provisions for outdoor dining. For more information, or to access this document, please visit:

This program will hopefully work but will be problematic as there will always be those flaunting the rules as they are established.
For some, wearing PPE is carrying a loaded AR-15 into the grocery store. Those that feel themselves immune and worse, put everyone else in closer proximity to infection.
I’ll be staying right here, complaining as usual.

I think it’s smart to be cautious. Lately when I’ve had to go shopping for necessities I’ve seen several people “flaunting” the rules… like wearing face masks below their noses. I am doing like you mac.

      > Ditto! Why do these folks always want to tempt fate? And why do they not respect their fellow citizens enough to put one on? I can foresee myself wearing one probably up through Fall, and maybe longer. This virus has mutated before, and no one knows what other diseases it can spike in the future.
