County Officials Still Waiting For BoE To Provide Financial Audit

County officials are still waiting for the Allegany County Board of Education to provide a financial audit that is nearly ten months past due.  The county requires its agencies to submit a financial audit annually in order to enable the county to compile and submit its required audit to its state and federal funding partners.  The board’s audit was due October 1 of last year.  Jason Bennett, finance director for the county, says that eventually it could become an issue for the county if state and federal funding partners decide to withhold or halt funding for non compliance…

    Whatever you do, don’t bring up the overdue audit with this present Board as it will just start another shouting match. And those are their inside voices.

    Yes, we have no clue where our money goes and can’t get an audit complete, but hey, we need even more money, because after all it is for for the CHILL-DREN.
