County Submits Additional Funding Allocation to State

Allegany County Government announced its submission of a plan to the Maryland Department of Budget and Management for its non-health related funding allocation under the new federal CARES Act. The County was notified on April 16 by Budget Secretary David Brinkley that Allegany County would be receiving a total of $12,287,049 in federal funding.  Half of those funds were to be utilized for health-related expenditures and would be drawn down on a reimbursable basis through the local health department.   Commission President Jake Shade stated that the, “The plan submitted to Secretary Brinkley shows the county’s  main priorities: hazard pay to those first responders who have been working through this pandemic and $1 million worth of grants and programs designed to assist small businesses in our community.  He said businesses that did not receive funding the first go around, will now be afforded another opportunity…

    This comment got in before someone informs us that this country doesn’t bailout governments that can’t be fiscally responsible?
