County to Hold Public Hearings on FY 2019 Budget

April 27th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The first in what will be a series of three public hearings on Allegany County’s FY 2019 budget highlighted Thursday’s meeting of the County Commissioners. Notable in this year fiscal package- the decision to flat fund all outside agencies that had been looking for budget increases, with the exception of the Sheriff’s Department which will receive an additional $150,000 for two new officers. Once again the county will provide a one tenth of a penny reduction in the property tax rate. To balance the budget, for a second consecutive year the county will need to dip into its reserve fund, this time for $1.5 million. Finance Director Jason Bennett.
