CPD Makes Assault Arrest & Serves Summons

On Sunday, March 19, 2017 at approximately 12:50 PM, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of N. Mechanic Street in reference to an assault that just occurred.  Upon the officers’ arrival, they contacted witnesses who reported that they observed a female being chased and thrown to the ground by a male.  The witnesses explained that they stopped to help and had the female get into their vehicle.  Officers contacted the victim who reported that she was assaulted by the suspect, Matthew Gonzales.  She told officers that Gonzales had punched her in the head and face multiple times and pushed her up against a wall.  The victim had sustained injuries.  Officers contacted Gonzales who denied that an assault had taken place.  After further investigation into the incident, Gonzales was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.  He was processed and taken before the Allegany District Court Commissioner.  Gonzales was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Sunday, March 19, 2017, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Coty Doss.  The summons was issued as a result of an incident that occurred in early January of this year.  Officers responded to a business on White Oaks Lane in reference to a theft complaint.  It was reported that the victim had a sweatshirt stolen.  After investigation into the incident, the suspect was identified as Coty Doss.  Charges were filed by the Cumberland Police Department and a criminal summons was issued.  Doss was served with the summons and released pending trial.
