CPD Serves Warrant, Makes CDS & Destruction Of Property Arrests

On October 27, 2016 Cumberland Police Officers arrested Andrew Russell on an arrest warrant.  The warrant was issued on Russell as a Violation of Probation for an original charge of driving while intoxicated.  Russell was taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner and was ordered to be held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

CDS Arrest

On October 27, 2016 at approximately 11:00 PM, Cumberland Police Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Industrial Blvd.  The Officers observed a vehicle travelling without headlights.  The Officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Emily Goestschius.  It was determined Goetschius’ Maryland driver’s license was suspended.  A Cumberland Police K9 was summoned to the scene and performed a scan for CDS of the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the presence of CDS inside of the vehicle.  Officers searched the vehicle and found several items of CDS as well as several items of CDS paraphernalia.  Goetschius was then placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland Police Department where she was served and processed.  She was then taken to the Allegany County Commissioner’s Office and was released on her own recognizance pending trial in Allegany County District Court.

CDS Posession Other than Marijuana (2 counts)

CDS remove prescription label (2 counts)

CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia (2 counts)

CDS Administer equipment possession

 

Destruction of Property Arrest

On October 28, 2016, in the early morning hours, the Cumberland Police responded to a N. Mechanic residence for a disturbance.  Upon their arrival Officers contacted Kaitlyn Thomas.  She stated he has been staying at the residence but the owner would not allow her to enter.  Officers spoke to the owner who stated Thomas had broken a window in the door of the residence.  The owner wished to press charges.  Thomas was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  She was issued a criminal citation for destruction of property and then released pending trial in Allegany County District Court.
