Crowd Expresses Concerns Over Allegany Co. Transit Changes

One of a standing room only crowd Thursday expressing concerns with proposed changes to the Allegany Transit system- most notably a reduction in fixed routes- and a rate increase for Alltrans riders. Representatives from the KFH Group outlined the recommended plan during a 90 minute public hearing- and among the most concerning for those on hand is a plan to decrease, from 6 to 4, the number of fixed routes; and doubling the rate for Alltrans from $2 to $4. Most of those speaking said that while a two dollar hike might not seem like a major issue for most- but for those living on a fixed income who rely on bus service- it could be devastating…
