Cumberland Closes Portion Of Queen City Pavement To Pedestrians

March 11th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland has determined that portions of the Brunswick Hotel, located on the corner of Baltimore Street and Queen City Pavement, are currently in an unstable state and may present dangerous conditions to pedestrians.

The City, in cooperation with CSX, is taking cautionary steps to limit pedestrian access to the southern side of the building.   Therefore, effective immediately, Queen City Pavement between Baltimore Street and Dexter Place will be closed to all pedestrian traffic.

Citizens are encouraged to avoid the restricted area and use only approved pedestrian pathways and not walk on adjacent railway property.  Pedestrians who choose to walk or play around railroad tracks are trespassing on private property and are subject to fines and serious injury.  The Cumberland City Police Department and CSX personnel will be monitoring the restricted area to caution citizens of the dangers posed by the unstable building and walking in close proximity to the railroad tracks.
