Cumberland Officials Continue To Study Downtown Parking Situation

City officials, police and the Downtown Development Commission are continuing to study the parking situation in downtown Cumberland- in essence trying to determine if it’s a real problem, or more of a perception issue. While there are routine complaints about a shortage of adequate parking spaces in the downtown area- Mayor Brian Grim and others maintain that that is not the case, and parking is plentiful, although acknowledging its not always convenient. During the regular DDC meeting, promotions director Steve Leyh noted that parking option people may not be aware of is under the Interstate 68 Bridge across from Atlantic Broadband. There are more than 80 spaces and it is free all-day parking…
