DelFest Foundation donates to School System

January 17th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Delfest Foundation recently donated $3,000 to Allegany County Public Schools' Project Y.E.S. (Youth Experiencing Success) program. This program targets students in grades 8 through 10 primarily, but may monitor students through graduation. Students enrolled will learn basic skills in reading and math, study and organizational skills, develop career opportunities, and plan for transitioning from middle to high school and beyond. Project Y.E.S. also offers student incentives and rewards for positive attitudes, good grades and attendance, and for showing improvement.  Students may earn opportunities such as job shadowing, field trips and/or cultural activities. The grant funds from the Delfest Foundation will be used for graduation incentives, clothing and necessities, school supplies, extra curricular activities that enhance learning and provide opportunities, and to help support the transition to college or trade schools or the workforce.
