Penny Walker, a democrat, has become the first official candidate on file to run for the Maryland House of Delegates 1B seat. The seat is currently held by Jason Buckel, a republican. Buckel has not yet filed but has held several fund raisers and given every indication that he will seek a second term. He defeated democrat Kevin Kelly for the seat in November of 2014. Walker has worked for many years at the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau on Greene Street in Cumberland.
