Eminent Domain Discussed by City

While the Cumberland Mayor and City Council have not been formally approached about considering the eminent domain option for the remaining Rolling Mill properties- at least one council member was asked about it. Plans for a commercial shopping plaza are somewhat stalled as with efforts ongoing by the developer to secure all the properties. The subject of the City’s possible use of eminent domain headlined this week’s Tuesday council meeting. When asked if the subject has been broached with the council, Mayor Ray Morriss said it had not been discussed with either the developer or the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation…

However, Councilman Eugene Frazier said CEDC executive director Paul Kelly did raise the issue in a conversation with him shortly after several property owners declined to meet with him…

    This proves that Grim was telling the truth all along and the few property owners remaining with “No Eminent Domain abuse” signs we’re actually the liars. This project needs to happen now and the developer needs to invite the REAL visionary back to cut the ribbon: Grim.
