The first ever graduate of the Allegany County Drug Court was honored with a ceremony Thursday afternoon in Circuit Court. Drug court is a community based effort to keep addicts out of the legal system by treating their addictions. Headed by a circuit court judge with a team of prosecutors, health officials and social workers, a drug court focuses on treating non-violent criminal offenders suffering from alcohol and substance abuse problems in order to keep drug-related crime down. Allegany County’s Drug Court has only been in place for two years. Recognized as the programs first graduate having successfully completed three phases was Donna Easton, she was presented with a certificate from Judge Jeff Getty who talked about the strict requirements in place for those entering Drug Court…
