Allegany County Board of Education member Wayne Foote does not share his fellow board members enthusiasm for the new Allegany High School project- saying that he believes the funds are being misdirected and the board is showing a lack of vision. Foote has been an advocate for consolidating Allegany and Fort Hill- as opposed to simply building a new Allegany school. In addition he says that Cumberland’s two middle schools- Braddock and Washington- are in dire straits and badly in need of renovation and upgrades. Foote, a retired teacher, says the student population has been dramatically declining for decades- and it’s clear a consolidated city high school would be the way to go…
