On Sunday, December 30, 2018, at 8:43 p.m., the Frostburg City Police Department was called to a private residence on South Grant Street regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers found that the suspects had fled the scene. The victims reported that three masked suspects had entered the residence uninvited, displayed a firearm, ordered them to the ground, and stole personal property from them, including phones, cash, and keys. One victim reported being struck with the weapon and kicked during the incident. That victim displayed evidence of physical injuries and was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. The firearm may have been an airsoft gun that looked like a real firearm.
After making initial contact with the victims and securing the scene, the Allegany County C3I Investigative Unit responded to the scene to handle the follow-up investigation.
Following the incident, a possible suspect vehicle was observed travelling out of the Frostburg area and was stopped in Lavale by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. Frostburg City Police transported victims to the scene of the stop; however, they did not identify the current occupants as the suspects in the case.
The preliminary information suggests that the victims were specifically targeted and that this was not a random crime.
The follow-up investigation is being conducted by the C3I Unit.
The Frostburg City Police Department was assisted by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, Frostburg State University Police, Department of Natural Resources Police, and the C3I Unit.
