A 20-year-old Frostburg State University student was arrested Monday in connection with an alleged assault of a fellow FSU student who is continuing to recover from head injuries suffered in the incident. Alexander Marcus Holt was arrested at a Wood Street residence Monday by the Frostburg Police Department, which served Holt with a warrant issued Monday for his arrest. The Cumberland Times News reports Holt, of Lothian, was charged with first- and second-degree assault, dangerous weapon with intent to injure, and disturbing the peace.

Holt remained jailed Tuesday at the Allegany County Detention Center on bond of $6,000 set by a district court commissioner.

The victim, a 21-year-old New Market man, suffered injuries that reportedly were not life-threatening.

The victim was bleeding from the head when police found him sitting on a porch of a Wood Street residence at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday.

The injured FSU student was treated at the scene and taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where he was discharged following treatment in the emergency room.

Investigation by Frostburg Police determined the alleged assault occurred during an off-campus party at a residence in the first block of East College Avenue.

The victim was reportedly struck in the head with a piece of wood when he and the accused became involved in an altercation.
