Gibralter Leading Candidate To Land Hood College Post

February 3rd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

A decision could be made this weekend on a new president for Hood College- and there are some indications that Frostburg State University President Jonathan Gibrlater is the favorite.  Board of Trustees Chairman Phil Burkheimer says the list of candidates has been narrowed down to three finalists, who will be visiting the campus this week.  He says the Search Committee is expected to meet on Saturday, and could forward one of those names to the Board.  "Assuming the Board accepts the Search Committee's recommendation, we'll have a name by noon on Saturday," he says. But it may be a few days before a public announcement is made, he says.  "We haven't decided whether we're going to publicize that or wait until we actually negotiate a contract and have everything in place before we publish the name. So it's still up the air. It will be next week sometime," he says. That person will replace Ron Volpe whose retiring after serving as the President since 2001. The three finalists for the job are Andrea E. Chapdelaine, Ph.D., who is provost and vice president for academic affairs at Albright College, a role she has had since 2006;  Gibralter, Ph.D., who has served as president of Frostburg State University since March, 2006; and Ann E. Rondeau, Ed.D., who served in the US Navy, attaining the rank of three star admiral, and was president of the National Defense University. Information about the three candidates is available on Hood College's website.
