Gun Control and School Safety a Tough Task

January 2nd, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Former U.S. Senate candidate in Maryland and former Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino says when state and federal lawmakers begin serious gun control and school safety discussion- its important to draft legislation that will most effectively address the real problem. Speaking shortly following the tragic shooting at a Connecticut elementary school, Bongino said that while there has been a great deal of focus on the best ways to keep dangerous people from entering school buildings- the real issue is what to do once they are already inside. Bongino says no matter what type of measures are taken in terms of front door security- if a person is armed and wants to enter a school- they will find a way in. Having armed personnel in place to delay any potential tragedies once a shooter has entered the school is the key.
