Hogan 2nd Most Popular Governor In Nation

February 1st, 2018 by WCBC Radio

WBAL reports a day after his State of the State address, Gov. Larry Hogan got some good news from Morning Consult, who released a poll that found him to be the second most popular governor running for re-election this year. In the poll conducted online from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, Hogan drew a 66 percent approval rate. He was one of several first-term Republicans to get glowing reviews in solid blue states. Charlie Baker of Massachusetts came in with a 69 percent approval rate and Vermont's Phil Scott clocked in at 63 percent.

Of the Maryland voters polled, 18 percent disapproved of Hogan's job performance, while 17 percent had no opinion. The poll had a 2 percent margin of error. His approval rate is nearly identical to a Morning Consult poll released last July.

On the other end of the poll, former governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, a friend of Hogan's, wrapped up 2017 with a 76 percent disapproval rate.
