Hogan calls Trump’s tweets about freshman congresswoman “inappropriate”

July 19th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Maryland’s Republican governor strongly criticized President Donald Trump for his recent controversial comments about four freshman congresswomen of color, but he stopped short of using the word “racist.”

In an interview with WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Gov. Larry Hogan said “I thought the comments were terrible and very unbecoming of a president and totally inappropriate.”

Hogan has been critical of Trump in the past and even considered challenging him in a Republican primary in 2020, although he announced in June that he would not make that move.

Trump intensified his attacks on the women at a North Carolina rally Wednesday, putting racial polarization at the center of his call for voters, a move that hasn’t been seen by a presidential candidate since 1968.

Few Republicans have denounced Trump’s recent remarks, but the Democratic-led U.S. House voted Tuesday to condemn his “racist comments” in which he suggested that the congresswomen should go back to their own countries.

Here is the truth that should hurt every American: Trump is a child and a pathological liar. When the history of this period is written it will go down as one of the darkest and most damaging times in the history of our country. >

These congresswomen are from districts far removed from western MD. I don’t think it’s up to us to determine whether or not they should be re-elected. Nor is it up to us to determine how “American” they are. >

It’s the phrase ‘stopped short’ of calling the remarks racist that keeps Hogan solidly in the GOP. Left to his own instincts, he is with them.

Governor you are free to leave the GOP anytime. Leave the President alone and tend to MD’s business.

Why would he leave the GOP? Because he is exercising his 1st Amendment rights in the same way that the 4 congresswomen are?>

Obviously many, many people vote for Democrats. HRC had 3 million more votes in 2016 than David Dennison. The Dems won the house in 2018 by a very wide margin. It sounds like you get most of your information from Fox News or Rush Limbaugh. It’s your right to listen to whomever you want but I think it is wise to read and do research – something our President does not do. >

They only voted for her Cause They Don’t Like Trump. Verified By The FBI. Same with the house dislike for Trump
Can’t wait til next time around ! And on the 3 million votes they were probably all illegal’s ! That’s why they want open borders.
1 more thing I get my news from REALITY! Just look around maybe you will see for yourself. Oh wait….you are one of them, Can’t handle the truth !

Not defending anything Congresswoman Omar said nor do I argue with people on the internet. But consider this – the white supremacists chanted “Jews will not replace us” in Charlottesville and our President proclaimed that there were “very fine people on both sides”. This was said after one of their ilk maliciously ran his car into the crowd and killed a young girl. >

I guess it’s alright when they run their racist & filty mouth’s, but when President Trump, or any republican as a matter of fact, says something the Dems don’t like, it’s labeled “racist”. The House refused to comdemn Omar or Talib’s racist & unamerican remarks but didn’t waste any time doing so to Trump. It’s been nothing more than a coup, with all the lies and bogus investigations, to disrupt and destroy Trump’s presidency. These four women, along with the majority of the Democrats, are PATHETIC! I’m ashamed to say I’m a registered Democrat, but not for long.

Just like the Democrats think MS13 are fine people. And what about 9/11 to Omar it was just some people did something. How pathetic
