Maryland school districts are working on how to welcome back students in the fall- with local board’s trying to strike a balance of returning kids to the classrooms- while making sure students, teachers and staff are kept safe. In Allegany County, the school board is expected to present its plan publicly at its August 11th meeting. Last week three of Maryland’s largest education groups said they want the state superintendent of schools to cancel plans to bring students back into school buildings in the fall- meanwhile the Trump Administration has put increasing pressure on schools across the country to fully open with five days a week instruction, even threatening to cut off funding for school systems that resist. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said that he expects an update this week from the state superintendent- adding that he will not be pressured or play politics with this issue…
