On today's date at 1625 hours, the MSP Hagerstown Barrack received a call for an overturned tractor trailer on westbound I-70 at Boyd Road. Investigation revealed a tractor trailer overturned in the median for reasons that are still under investigation. It is a commercial tractor trailer that is loaded with flammable hazardous material. There is no danger to the persons or homes in the surrounding area.
As of right now, this is still an active scene. Traffic is being diverted from westbound I-70 to Exit 18, into the town of Clear Spring. The detour will utilize U.S Route 40 to bypass the scene.
This will be an extended road closure. Please avoid the area or take caution if traveling the detour route.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
