August 17th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Cox, announced today the appointment of an interim principal at Westmar Middle School for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year. John Logsdon will replace Toby Eirich, who recently resigned. “I am very pleased to announce the interim appointment of Mr. Logsdon,” said Dr. Cox. “He has a very good demeanor and is great with people. He has extensive principal experience and will be able to step right in on an interim basis.” He went on to say, “I am grateful that he is willing to assist us through this period of leadership transition.” When asked how he felt about assuming this interim position at Westmar, Logsdon said, “I look forward to serving as the interim principal at Westmar Middle School next year. Mr. Eirich, the Westmar staff and students and the Westmar community have built a strong and productive school that facilitates student growth and achievement.” He went on to say, “I plan to spend the year working alongside those dedicated individuals to build on these past successes.” John began his career with Allegany County Public Schools in 1991 at John Humbird Elementary School. Over the years, he has held positions of teacher, assistant principal, and principal before moving to the central office as the Supervisor of Federal Programs and Social Studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood/early elementary education and his Master of Education degree in administration and supervision. Mr. Logsdon will continue to oversee Title I responsibilities, and social studies supervision will be temporarily assumed by other staff. A comprehensive search for a permanent principal will begin in the spring.
