Approximately 2,000 Medicare eligible Kelly Springfield/Goodyear retirees in the Allegany County have been notified that they are being removed from the group health plan. They have been informed by way of a letter that a third-party company, based in Utah, will send out a packet of information to them and that they should then schedule a phone call to go over their options. This is nothing new. When I retired from Kelly-Springfield, I was told up front that when I reached 65 years old and was on Medicare that I would no longer have Goodyear insurance.
The letter I received advised me that when I get closer to 65 I should contact them and they would help me find a supplemental insurance plan.
I don’t know about the earlier retirees or those who had been union, but those of us who retired as non-union were never promised insurance beyond age 65.
