Kelly Retirees Being Removed from Health Plan

Approximately 2,000 Medicare eligible Kelly Springfield/Goodyear retirees in the Allegany County  have been notified that they are  being removed from the group health plan.  They have been informed by way of a letter that  a third-party company, based in Utah, will send out a packet of information to them and that they should then schedule a phone call to go over their options. David Kurtz with Senior Benefits Services tells WCBC News that the action impacts those retirees and in some cases their spouses…

    This is nothing new. When I retired from Kelly-Springfield, I was told up front that when I reached 65 years old and was on Medicare that I would no longer have Goodyear insurance.
    The letter I received advised me that when I get closer to 65 I should contact them and they would help me find a supplemental insurance plan.
    I don’t know about the earlier retirees or those who had been union, but those of us who retired as non-union were never promised insurance beyond age 65.
