LaVale DQ Reports Positive COVID-19 Test

August 26th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The DQ Grill & Chill in LaVale today reported that an employee has tested positive for Coronavirus.
The business announced the development on its Facebook page…
"Dear Guests: an employee tested positive five days after he had been in the building. We have followed every guideline/procedure the health department, both at the local and the state level, recommended. We also have strict safety measures in place including hourly high-contact area cleaning, mask and glove usage. All employees that worked during the contagious period with this employee are in 14-day quarantine and being paid for their time off. Team Members that didn’t work directly with him that elected to self-quarantine were off 14 days, unpaid, and they will not lose their jobs. Due to the shortage of employees we closed the inside of the restaurant and we are opened in the drive thru shorter hours. Daily, everyone working has a temperature check, which we have been doing for several months, along with checking to make sure they are symptom free. We appreciate your understanding during these COVID times!"

I don’t know who owns that business but kudos to them. Good employers!

DQ did the right thing and even identified themselves. I will remember that and their efforts to keep our community safe.

I greatly appreciate the open and honest response by the local Dairy Queen in coming forth with this information to the public. As Dave and Ron stated, I will remember the DQ in the future. It is a shame that the gov’t / health department is not mandated to report to the public any business / public venue that has a positive or even suspected Covid19 test of an employee or patron.
