A longtime fixture in local youth sports has died. Thomas E. Carroll died Friday at the age of 84. Carroll was a 1946 graduate of LaSalle High School and coached the Outdoor Club team in the Hot Stove League for decades. He also coached basketball at St. Mary’s Parish. Carroll presented last year’s Rapplier Award at Bishop Walsh. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home on Virginia Avenue on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1 pm at St. Mary’s.
