WHAG reports that if you like to hit the Western Maryland Rail Trail, be aware there are some temporary closures starting Monday. Officials said the closures will be from Locher to Seavolt Roads in Fort Frederick State Park from Nov. 27 to Jan. 1. Ditches will be cleaned, damaged guard rails will be replaced, and fencing along the trail will also be fixed.
They said there will be detours at the C&O Canal Towpath.
Once the construction is finished, phase two will begin, where there will be closures from the Seavolt to Pearre Roads.
They said there will also be no access to the trail from the western end at Pearre.
Officials hope to have everything back open by the beginning of February 2017.
