Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Colorado Police Officer Nabbed In Cumberland

On Friday at about 11:00 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a trespassing complaint in the 400 block of Columbia Street. Upon arrival officers located three individuals on the property of a vacant house.

A status check for arrest warrants was conducted on the individuals. As a result, Michael Sutton, age 43, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, was found to be wanted from Colorado Springs, Colorado for failing to appear for court on April 12, 2017. Sutton was scheduled for trial for a November 2016 incident where he was charged with Attempted Murder on a police officer, Eluding Police and DUI after he allegedly drove a large work vehicle through a trailer park and attempted to strike an officer who was on foot. A car chase ensued for 11 miles before Sutton was stopped and arrested.

Sutton was processed, served and held at the Allegany County Detention Center where he will be detained until he is released to Colorado authorities to extradite him back for trial.
