Maryland Casinos Claim Record Revenue In April

May 5th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Lottery officials say the state's casinos last month notched a new revenue high. In April, the state's five casinos took in $103.89 million, beating the previous record, $98.95 million last July.

“This is another great milestone for Maryland’s casinos,” said Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica. “We’re looking forward to continued growth of the state’s casino industry, and of course, that means more funding for important state programs.”

The state's take of casino revenue supports the Maryland Education Trust Fund as well as programs for small, minority-owned and women-owned businesses, local impact grants and horse racing.

Maryland Live Casino led April's revenue with nearly $57.8 million from slots and table games, up 13.4 percent from last April. Behind it was Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, which pulled in nearly $30.25 million, a 31.9 percent jump from a year before. Overall, state casino revenue jumped 16.8 percent over the previous April.
