Maryland Jobless Rate Increases

Maryland's jobless rate ticked up in July- and a spokesman for the Regional Economic Studies Institute at Towson University believes the federal sequester has played a role in these job losses. The latest figures were released today by the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. For July the rate increased to 7.1 percent from a figure that was 7 percent even in June. The U.S. Department of Labor indicated that Maryland job totals declined by more than 9,000. Public sector employment saw a decline of 4,300. The private sector went down by 4,900…
