Maryland Reassigns Employees to Help with Unemployment

April 13th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

If you have had a tough time getting through to the Maryland Job Service to file for unemployment benefits, you are not alone. Labor Secretary Tiffany Johnson says they’ve reassigned 150 state employees to the effort, and she is committed to seeing everyone get the help they need…

In the meantime, there continues to be a large backlog in West Virginia, which will add additional staff as well.

Hopefully no one is calling the job service to file for unemployment. The job service is not unemployment insurance. It is a resource to help people find work. As such, it is totally separate from unemployment insurance, which is who people should be calling, or going tp their website to open a claim.
